Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, is an increasingly utilized adjunctive technology in modern dentistry. This introductory lecture course provides dental professionals with a foundational understanding of the science, safety, and clinical applications of red light therapy in the dental setting. 

Participants will explore the biological mechanisms of red and near-infrared light, review current evidence supporting its use, and examine the top five dental procedures where red light therapy may be incorporated to support healing, reduce inflammation, and enhance patient comfort. Emphasis is placed on clinical indications, safety considerations, and practical integration into daily dental practice. This course is designed to equip dental professionals with the knowledge necessary to evaluate the role of red light therapy as part of comprehensive, patient-centered dental care.

Educational Objectives:

• Define red light therapy (photobiomodulation) and explain its basic mechanisms of action as they relate to dental and oral tissues.
