Resorption has become increasingly prevalent in our patients in the last ten to fifteen years. Whilst there remain many unknowns regarding the etiology of the process, three-dimensional assessment using CBCT imaging has enabled us to more accurately identify, classify and treat this condition with predictable outcomes.
The aim of this lecture presentation is to provide dentists, hygienists and dental assistants with:
- Knowledge regarding the diagnostic tools needed to help identify resorption and interpretation of the data obtained.
- Clinical information which can be utilized to provide patients with an understanding of the resorptive process.
- Examples of clinical cases of resorption with subsequent management, to help understand treatment options that patients may have for their affected tooth.
There will be a Question and Answer Panel discussion at the end of the presentation. Attendees are encouraged to bring at least one question they may have on the topic of resorption for discussion with the speakers.
Educational Objectives:
- More predictably identify resorption using two-dimensional and three-dimensional imaging in conjunction with a detailed clinical examination.
- Confidently classify the type of resorption that has been identified.
- Utilize the information obtained to systematically facilitate treatment planning for management of these complex cases.
- Understand the importance of recall assessment to monitor the stability of teeth affected by resorption.
