F27: From Bench to Bedside: The Evolution of Tissue – Engineering Maxillofacial Reconstruction

This presentation will provide a high-level overview of exciting developments in maxillofacial hard tissue regeneration. Topics will include current challenges in oncologic maxillofacial reconstruction and current standard-of-care. This will be followed by novel strategies of 3D-printing biomineral scaffolds for hard-tissue reconstruction and novel semiconductor-based coatings to enhance the local wound healing environment. 

Educational Objectives:

• Review the current technological advances in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Develop strategies to improve patient outcomes and decrease patient morbidity.
• Identify limitations of current treatments and discuss future developments.
